I have died and gone to Mexican food heaven.

The softball tournament this week is in Manteca, CA, which is almost two hours south of us. AND, they have the late games. Needless to say, I booked a room. It really was no surprise that the games went even later than expected. Par for the course with this league. It didn’t help that our field’s lights went out. It’s a good thing that Amanda and I opted to DoorDash dinner.

Since tacos are always the answer, we chose a local Mexican restaurant. Neither of us had ever heard of this place, but seeing as how we are both fans of all Mexican food, we just went with what we were craving. Both of us decided on a chicken quesadilla, she added tacos (I think), her kiddo got asada tacos, and I added a fish taco.

When the food arrived, we were in the midst of game two and because I was keeping score, Amanda met the DoorDash driver. When she returned, I had the initial thought that the bag looked bigger than it should’ve been for what we ordered. I opened the first container to discover the chicken quesadillas, thinking it was weird that they put both of ours in the same box.

Let me tell you, this wasn’t a quesadilla. No. It was a giant chicken burrito without beans or rice. Then I took my first bite. I about melted in my chair. Seriously, if I had been alone, I might have had an O from how good it was. The chicken was tender, there was just the right amount of cheese. There was a layer of pico, guac, and sour cream that made what I was eating the best thing I’ve ever had in my mouth… (get your mind out of the gutter).

Amanda said that her taco was also amazing, as was the salsa and then didn’t hesitate to consume her quesadilla. We were both in absolute heaven. Then I ate my fish taco. Hands down, the best fish taco I’ve ever had. Then I opened the last box to discover another two chicken quesadillas. Then it hit us. The two we ate, was actually one that was cut in half. Mind. Blown.

If you ever have the chance, visit Taqueria La Estrella in Manteca,
CA… you will not be disappointed.
