abstract art

One thing that I’ve discovered in the less than two months that I’ve been on this art journey is that, everything I thought was easy, is not.

Paint pouring is not as easy as it looks. There really is a balancing act to it. You have to get the paint mixture just right, you have to understand that the different color pigments have different weights, which effects how the move and how cells are created. There are more tools than just paint, cups, and a canvas. It’s been a fun experience to discover what works and what I like.

I got these new paint pouring cup things. There’s different slots and you pour the paint over the center to get these different flowering effects. With this one, I was still feeling very much in the fall vibes, so I grabbed my fall colors: browns, creams, golds, red, green, orange, and yellow.

“Wait, Elizabeth, I don’t see all of those colors?” Good observation.

Remember when I said that different pigments have different weights? Well, those pigments can rise or fall in the paint pouring process depending on their weight and the weight of the other colors. I have not gotten to the point of measuring the colors. That seems too structured for me right now and I’m afraid that I would get so hung up on the specifics, that I would lose the emotion that I’ve been pouring into these pieces (pun intended).

Either way… this painting is AWESOME! And the video for it on Instagram has over 6k views… for context, I have, like, 80 followers.

I guess I’m doing something right.
