Unplanned

abstract painting

Things never go according to plan.

I had full intention of painting all day. Yeah, that didn’t happen. I started on the base coat for a large piece that I’m working on. Then a medium effect. While that was drying, I decided to run to Michael’s since I need clay for this piece. It’s been forever since I’ve last cleaned out my car, so before Michael’s, I stopped by the car wash. On the way to Michael’s my stomach started being a bother. I ignored it, and went into the store. That was a mistake.

I was about 4 isles in when I had some of the worst cramps I’ve had in a long time. WARNING: This is about to get TMI… So I headed to the bathroom. Nothing. Nothing happened. I sat there in cramping pain long enough that the motion sensor light shut off. When I thought the pain was gone, I resumed my shopping. That lasted about 5 minutes. Back to the bathroom. Again. Nothing. I already had what I came in for, so I took my cramping self to the register. I felt like I was going to break out into a cold sweat. There was a lady in front of me arguing about the price of fake flowers and I almost snapped. I FINALLY paid for my things and walked as fast as I could back to my car and drove home. It was the longest 15 minute drive of my life.

When I finally got home, I practically pushed the boyfriend out of the way to go to our bathroom. I wasn’t sure if I was going to throw up or… you know. Nothing. The boyfriend got me some water and Tylenol, and I promptly fell asleep. I slept for two hours. You have to understand that I am not a napper. I hate naps. I never feel refreshed after but instead feel even more tired and groggy. This was no exception.

When I woke up, the cramping was gone and the boyfriend said it was already the second quarter of the Super Bowl. A Super Bowl that I had no interest in watching since it’s not feasible for both teams to lose. Which is what I wanted. But I eventually made it downstairs. I spent the rest of the evening painting. I didn’t get nearly as far as I wanted to on the big one. However, I DID get to tryout my new Liquitex spray paints… which I then decided needed some paint pour. The black, gold, white background needed some color, hence the rainbow.

There’s always tomorrow.
