Sunrises are too early

Ever read “The Four Tendencies” by Gretchen Ruben? If not, you should. It’s fantastic and it helped me make sense of why I react the way I do. Everyone falls into four categories (tendencies): Upholder, Obliger, Questioner, and Rebel. I’m an Upholder. I’m very reliant on my lists, and structures, and rules. I like rules. Rules make sense to me. I also cross over into Obliger. Which means when my boss asks me to drive to Sacramento at the butt crack of dawn to drop an engraved name plate off at the hotel our visit president is staying, I say, “I’d be happy to!” Which is a lie. My sleep has been all kinds of screwed up lately, and my being a night owl has meant that I go to bed around midnight every night.
At least my drive this morning had the most beautiful sunrise. Even with morning commuter traffic, it still gave me a sense of peace and calm. So after I got home, I felt inspired to paint this. A bit of calm to contrast my ever chaotic world.
