Cleaning makes me happy.

Today was a pretty calm day, for the most part. I went to work at the office for most of the day, then I had a chiropractor appointment. The boyfriend and his kids returned from their trip. Then the kiddo and I went to my parents house.

When we got to my parents house, they weren’t there. No surprise, I knew they were out having dinner, and I have a key. My kiddo started washing their dishes, like a good granddaughter, and I went into my soon-to-be art studio and began cleaning. My step-mom had already moved the remainder of my grandma’s quilt things into a corner, and what was left was odds and ends. There were piles of wood from when it was my grandpa’s wood shop… meaning, the wood has been there since the 90’s. I fixed a couple of shelves and began to really clean. I’m pretty sure that a lot of the cobwebs and dust bunnies have been there for at least 30 years. There were piles of sawdust that I know are at least 30 years old. I probably should’ve been wearing a mask, but it is what it is.

By the time I was done, I looked like I had been living on the streets for a few years. Covered in grime, dust, and who-knows-what. I am kind of disappointed that I’ve basically done all I can do in there until it’s ready for me to move my art supplies in. That’s supposed to happen at the end of July, so, fingers crossed.

I feel very accomplished.
