A day away

Abstract painting

My kiddo just can’t catch a break.

Originally, we (my kiddo and I) were going to go to the Legion of Honor museum in San Francisco. It’s only a couple hours away and tickets are cheap. Then, her sister invited her to go to Santa Cruz. She was supposed to get picked up yesterday. By the time her sister got around to it, it was too late to go. Not only that, by she’s on her last month of braces and got the “super bands” put on yesterday. Needless to say, her mouth wasn’t feeling awesome.

To try and cheer her up, I asked if she wanted to go to the Van Gogh Experience and maybe lunch. I wasn’t really up for the drive to San Fran. She said “sure”, which is teenager for “I’d love to.” After lunch at her favorite restaurant, Olive Garden, where she delicately ate spaghetti, we headed off to the exhibit.

If you ever have the chance to go, I’d recommend it. Of course, being an artist, and admiring Van Gogh’s work, I was in my element. When we got to the projection room, we went into “zen mode”. Lounging, watching the paintings come to life, listening to the soothing classical music, I could’ve curled up on one of the rugs and taken a nap. My daughter even said that she felt “inspired”.

Mom to the rescue, again.
