Rabbit hole

I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole. Which one, you ask? I don’t know. But it’s dark and dreary in here.

My daughter is leaving today to go to Disneyland with her father and step-mother. They’re going with, like, 10 or more people. Even with that number, she says she’s going to have no one to ride rides with. Did I mention her step-mom has brain cancer? And this is the last family “hoo-rah”? Yeah, kind of depressing for the Happiest Place On Earth. Not to mention that I haven’t spent more than a few days apart from her in over a year. We’re both going to be miserable.

I bought an Alice In Wonderland book on Amazon for a couple dollars. It’s a cheap reprint of the original, the one with Sir John Tenniel’s drawings. I bought it specifically to rip the pages… which I used for this pieces.

It’s a complicated piece. There’s layers of color, I glued on ripped pages of the book. Added a clear coat, then some teal, off-white, and yellow, and then a coat of crackle medium. After that dried, I added the grey, black and red.

I think it’s sufficiently grungy. Which is a perfect representation of my mood.
