This Week

Today was fairly uneventful. With that said, I’m going to do something a little different and reflect on this last week and share what didn’t make it into that day’s post.

With my daughter starting softball this week, I’ve had to adjust my remote/office days to ensure that I can get her to practice on time. Instead of Monday and Tuesday remote, I’m now Tuesday and Thursday. I am not liking it. The every other day is seriously messing with my internal calendar. I woke up this morning thinking it was Monday. I just know that the second I get used to this, the season will be over and I’ll be back to my normal schedule. Blech.

This week has been ridiculously hot. So hot that my kiddo’s Tuesday practice was canceled because of the heat. It makes my new haircut an advantage, seeing as how I no longer have anything covering my neck. Speaking of my hair, I’ve accepted it. What did it was after my first shower with it. I know that sounds kinda weird, but let me explain. I no longer need to wrap my head in a towel, I can simply tousle it and it’s ready for the hair dryer. After I did, it reminded me of Amélie, which is my favorite move. That resulted in me Googling “French hair cuts” and I discovered that I actually have a “French bob” but without bangs. Considering my obsession with all things France, it made feel better, like I look Parisian. I’m here for it.

My kiddo got to cash her work paychecks for the first time. If she wouldn’t have killed me, I would’ve taken a video of it. She was absolutely preening in line. She said it made her feel like a real adult. I told her that it’s a good start. Now she’s got a debit card with her name on it and money that she earned. She also had her school pictures this week… I know, “already?”. I got the digital just two days later. OMG, she looks so grown up. I almost cried. Of course, I sent her the photo and a message that said, “You’re so beautiful.” You know what her response was? “My hair looks amazing.” Teenagers.

I forgot to mention that I legit almost died yesterday… or, at the very least, ended up in the ER. While my kiddo was a practice, I took advantage of being in a town I don’t visit often, and went to check out their craft store. While walking from the store to my car, a woman came within a foot of running me over. She was speeding in the parking lot, not paying attention and slammed on her brakes right before she was about to hit me. An older lady in a Mercedes, she was too busy looking for a good parking row than paying attention to what was in front of her… namely, me. She sheepishly smiled at me as I cussed her out. Even the store employees came out because they heard her brakes. When I got to my car, one of the patrons pulled up beside me to see if I was okay. Freaking people, pay attention to what you’re doing, especially in high pedestrian areas… like parking lots!

Oh, and the boyfriend and I are going to Reno on Sunday for the Mudvayne concert. It’s a packed night with Butcher Babies (whom I LOVE), Coal Chamber, Nonpoint, and GWAR opening. It’ll be like a mini prelude to Aftershock. Which reminds me… on my way to the office, I drive by where they hold Aftershock. We’re about 6 weeks out, but they’ve already starting setting up! It’s just getting me more amped. I am beyond excited to see Sleep Token for the first time and I’m always excited to see Tool.

Tomorrow is my last (kinda) calm day before my stress level goes into hyper drive, so fingers crossed that I make it through.
