Soap Opera

I’m watching a real life soap opera.
In looking back, my hyper-fixation has always been there, and it’s taken on many forms. I’ve had “phases” of everything from movies, history, books, people, concepts, religions, colors, to places. When I was roughly, 12 or 13, I spent an entire summer absolutely obsessed with Days of Our Lives. This was back when the whole John, Rebecca, Stefano, thing was the main storyline. Back when Sami was obsessed with Austin. When Bo was longing for his missing Hope. When I grew out of that, mainly due to the cheese factor, I spent quite a few years being obsessed with WWE, back when it was WWF. In the days of Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker and Cane, Triple H, Chyna, and the D-Generation X drama. All “pro” wrestling is, is a soap opera on testosterone. I loved it. I stopped watching when I went to college… and no longer had a TV.
Nowadays, I prefer real life soap operas. No, I don’t mean “reality” TV, I actually hate. it. What I mean is real life, people around me. I don’t want to get involved, but watching and listening are entertaining. I find that I am much more emotionally invested than a storyline on TV. The outcomes mean something. All that being said, I am currently witnessing a soap opera on steroids. And it seems that only one of the main players has any grasp on reality.
It’s not my story to tell, but it sure is entertaining.
