In a panic

It may be time to switch financial institutions.
I have to pay mortgage today. Like I HAVE to. If I don’t, bad things will happen. So, of course, the universe decided to make it as difficult and stressful as possible.
I had a check that needed to be deposited TODAY in order to cover the mortgage payment. After I took my kiddo to school, I stopped by the ATM, the credit union wasn’t open yet, and deposited it. I’ve never had any issues in the past. I, in fact, used to WORK for this credit union. I am fully on the credit union train, because banks are evil. When I looked at my receipt after the deposit, they had placed a $1,500 hold on it! OMG! A couple hundred, I could maybe understand, but $1,500?!
There wasn’t anything I could do, so I went home because I had to work. I called the credit union’s call center. They weren’t able to remove the hold and told me I had to call the branch vp when it opened. Like I said, I used to work there. For almost 4 years. I waited until 9am, then called one of the vp’s I knew. He said that he would check on it and call me back. Apparently, I didn’t know him as well as I thought, because, by noon, I still hadn’t heard anything. At 12:30, I went to the branch closest to me. There was 2 tellers there. Neither of them could remove the hold and the vp was at lunch. By the time I would be able to go back, the branch would be closed, and I’d miss my mortgage payment. In a complete and absolute panic, I called the first person that came to mind. Step-mom to the rescue!
Looks like she’s getting more paintings.
