A new dawn

Two good days in a row? That’s a new record!

My initial plan for the day was to do absolutely nothing. I was still laying in bed, scrolling Instagram when my friend Amanda texted me asking if I wanted to join her at a craft fair in my parents town. Not only do I need to get out more, so does she. I knew that I had to go for both of our mental health. We also took our daughters. That forced me to get up, take a shower, and look like a human.

We met them there, and it was actually pretty nice. A lot more booths than I was expecting, and good ones too. I wound up buying a fuzzy cardigan sweater, some soap, some homemade candy and almonds, and a LOT of candles… I’m kind of addicted to candles. It felt good to support local shops and artists. We also made a plan to have our own booth next year where I will have my paintings and prints of my paintings there and Amanda’s daughter will have her crochet items there. It’s not like we’ll be able to retire or pay for her college fund, but it would be fun.

Afterwards, we all went over to my parents, where my step-mom was over the moon about showing Amanda the house and all of the plans they have for it. We stayed longer than initially intended, but it was a good visit.

I came home and sat next to the boyfriend and painted with my watercolor pens while we watched the Sunday Night Football game. For some reason, I kept picturing the sunset that I saw as I was walking back to my hotel the other night. So that’s what I painted. It feels like a new dawn. Or maybe a sunset of some sort. We’ll see.
