Sharing is caring. At lease that’s what I learned from Mr. Rogers.

We had our first department meeting of the year. Our leaders shared what each of their teams are working on this year - big projects, I mean. Side note: I also got a recognition, so, yay me! Anyway, we have a subdivision within Marketing that is dedicated to DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion). Our DEI department has these virtual town halls every couple months. They’re safe spaces, completely voluntary, but a place where we can gather and discuss certain topics like gun violence, political strife, racial bias, etc. There’s usually a guest speaker (from within the company) that is part of the topic. They share their story and after, take any questions and open a dialog. I asked if there was ever one about mental health. The manager said that they had one back in 2020 during the pandemic, but it may be time to address it again. I offered a bit of my story, what mental health awareness means to me, and after, she asked if I would be interested in being a speaker. I cannot tell you how happy I am to be able to bring my experience and help to erase the stigma that comes with mental illness.

I guess I’m doing something right.
