Rushed

There is nothing more than I hate than being rushed.

It’s Thursday. Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, which means no work and no school. Because of both, I have agreed to animal sit for my parents tonight as they have a much needed night away.

I needed to make sure I got my art piece done for the day, which meant it had to be a paint pour and it was going to be rushed. Rushed because I had to work from the office. Rushed because I needed to come home, pack and overnight bag, and take a shower. Rushed because, as usual, my daughter waiting until the VERY last minute to get ready.

Ah, my poor kiddo. This was a rough day for her. She had three tests, which she panicked in, convinced she failed them, has been yelling at her to hurry the hell up so we can go, then… on the 40 minute drive to my parents… I hit a rabbit.

I didn’t mean to. I really didn’t. We were driving the back roads, it was dark, and I did attempt to miss him. But, as if he wanted to end things, right at the last minute he turned around and hopped right in front of my tires. My kiddo LOST it. It was like the proverbial straw. Her rubber band snapped. She cried. She yelled at me. She broke down. It took Subway, Takis, and a bag of Reese’s pumpkins on clearance from RiteAid to calm her down.

Well… at least I got my painting done.
