Sleep Token

I have a new obsession… Sleep Token.
I didn’t go to bed until around 3am, and that was only because my phone died, and I forgot my charger in my car. I couldn’t go get it because doing so would’ve woken the dogs, which would’ve woken my parents. I spent all that time on YouTube watching videos of people reacting to hearing Sleep Token for the first time, vocal teachers reacting, and concert footage. I could’ve kept watching all night/early morning.
Sleep Token is a relatively new band. They’re from the UK and release their first full album in 2020 (a few EP’s and singles prior to that since 2018), but didn’t really break into the US until their single “The Summoning” from their third album, early 2023. I liked the song, but didn’t really get into them until a month or so ago. Recently, I haven’t been listening to a lot of music, it’s been all audio books. However, I have a lot of reports to do for work, and project planning, it’s hard to concentrate on what I’m writing and concentrate on a book at the same time, so I’ve had to switch back to music. My Amazon Music was on the “My Likes & More” station, and they played a Sleep Token song that I had not heard before, and loved even more than “The Summoning.” That lead me to listening to their second album. I’m hooked.
I’ve gone down the Sleep Token rabbit hole. The mystery behind the band. The fact that they’re masked and wish to remain anonymous. The lore behind their history and the songs. The artwork. The symbols. It has all captured my fascination. And did I mention their music? It’s amazing. Every instrument. Vessel’s voice. I cannot get enough. They can’t really be categorized into a specific genre. They are their own genre. I’ve had all of their songs on repeat all weekend. I even hooked my step-mom in.
They’re quickly moving up in my “favorite band” list.
