Silver lining

When I was in high school, we would get those state assessment tests. I was always off the charts for “Abstract Reasoning”. I’ve never figured out if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. When I find myself in difficult situations, often of my own doing, I always seem to find some way out. It’ usually not obvious, and sometimes it will take me awhile. When I do figure out the solution, I usually think of those assessment test scores. So, maybe it’s a good thing after all?
With all of that being said, I THINK I’ve figured out a solution to my financial issues. I’ve also been able to sell a few paintings, and was offered a freelance project. I’m definitely not counting my chickens before they hatch, but I can see a possible way out.
With a bit of optimism… a teeny tiny bit… I started this painting. I recently bought some modeling paste, and I have my paint texturizer, and I wanted to try some new techniques. The idea for this actually came to me in the middle of a video meeting. I jotted it down on a sticky note for later. As soon as I could, I started measuring.
This painting isn’t going to be done in one day, especially since the paste has to dry. But I’m using a combination of paint pouring, leafing, traditional painting and different varnishes.
All in all, I love it. There’s so much texture. You can kind of tell in the photo, but this is really a “must see” in person. Maybe one day, it’ll hang in a gallery. Once can dream.
